Tech Titan: Matteo Achilli, Founder & CEO of Egomnia

My NativeAdVice:

Matteo Achilli is Founder & CEO of Egomnia, the next world's largest young talent community. He was dubbed the "Italian Zuckerberg".

How did you get into the tech industry?

I started to be able to write codes when I was only 13, but I didn't feel a developer. When my dad in 2008 was fired during the crisis he decided to become an entrepreneur, and I have seen for the first time the life of an entrepreneur. I have understood my mission: open a tech company

Tell us about Egomnia. What inspired the idea and what is your vision for the company?

I founded at 20, the first social and professional network in Italy that helps people to find a job and the first one in the world that use an algorithm to assign a score to the CVs of its members. I was inspired by the top universities rankings and by the Google's PageRank. I decided to create a Ranking of People using the same philosophy of Google's Pagerank.

I invested only € 10,000 for the Beta version of and in little more than 24 months Egomnia is one of the leading job searching platforms in the italian HR market, with more than 850 clients. Many italian authorities, trade unions, head hunting companies and universities are using the website. Egomnia has helped many italians finding a job and now it is going to become global. I would like to create the first big-tech italian company and I'd like to help all the young talents all around the world to find theirs jobs.

What strategic partnerships have you implemented which have attributed to Egomnia's success?

During the 2014 I signed a lot of contracts and partnerships with some of the biggest companies all over the world: like Vodafone and Generali. I directly speak with the italian or european branches, but I'm sure they are going to help the growth of Egomnia globally.

Life Motto?

Passion for Innovation

Your greatest success as founder of Egomnia? Most difficult moment-how did you overcome and what did you learn?

In Italy there isn't a strong Ecosystem of Startups, Incubators, VCs, Business Angels, ... and It's very difficult to pay attention to the young people. So I started alone and without money. Only my parents believed in me. Fortunately I launched Egomnia in a country with an unemployment rate of 12.6% — twice that of the U.S. — where over 40% of people ages 24 to 35 struggle to find jobs. This fact has made me a symbol of growth for Italy's lagging tech startup scene.
I wanted to help Italy. Now I'm working hard to help all the World.

Your advice to an aspiring entrepreneur?

My advice to an aspiring entrepreneur is to fully believe in what you do and in the potential that you have. It's very difficult to achieve your goal, but If you're going to work hard everyday your higher achievement will be your personal growth.

Favorite travel destination?

I really love Singapore. I'm going to launch there as soon as possible.

Most frequented websites on your browser?

Google, I suppose.

Current passion?

I really love to swim. I was an italian champion when I was 14. Unfortunately, now I have no time to do that frequently.

Most interesting headline you've read this week?

"Most Powerful People in Tech" on Business Insider. I was the only italian mentioned.

What's next for Egomnia?

At the end of october Egomnia is going to be launched all over the world in a Beta Version. This is the first step for the globalization. I would like to create one of the leading job searching platform in the world HR market. Our target are the young talents.
