How did you get into the industry?

A good friend of mine gave an oil portrait of my wife and me as our wedding present. All the guests at the wedding were amazed by this unique gift and by the quality of the art. We decided we must make it accessible and affordable to everyone and so the idea of Paint Your Life was launched.

Any emerging industry trends?

Customers today want everything personalized. Art personalization is a new and emerging industry.  Why buy an oil painting of a mountain view or a sunset, when you can get a photo you took yourself and turn it into a masterpiece that will really mean something to you and will always remind you of this special moment? This is an entirely new way to interact with art.

Any industry opportunities or challenges?

Today, people are looking for an enriching experience when it comes to the purchases they make. There is tremendous opportunity for those brands that can personalize and create a unique experience for their customers. The whole experience of unboxing, for instance, is now a huge focus. Paint Your Life makes the whole purchasing experience personalized and interactive, taking unboxing to an entirely different level.  

In addition, digital photography and other technology have given Paint Your Life  the opportunity to create a market niche; transforming a digital photo into a cherished work of art.  

One challenge we face is bringing attention to how easy and affordable it can be to have a personalized painting created from a digital photo. Another challenge is, as demand increases, we need to recruit more talented artists who can create top quality painting and give our customers impeccable service.

Inspiration for the business idea, and your vision for the Business?

My vision for the future is to enable artists and customers to collaborate even more, so that customers will be able to easily communicate their vision directly to the artist, and will be a part of creating their own art.

What's next for the Business in the near future?

We are adding the option to order a video of how your painting was created. We’ve already tested this on beta and received great feedback.

We also plan to start sharing as much information about the artists as we can, including their profile photo, short bio etc.

Your key initiatives for the success of the Business?

a.) Keep customers happy at all costs

b.) Invest significantly in marketing so that everyone will be familiar with the product and the brand.

Your most difficult moment at the Business? (and what did you learn?)

Years ago, due to a Google algorithm update, we lost a significant amount of Website traffic. At the time Google had been our main source of traffic. Though, this is now rectified it was a difficult time. I have since learned not to rely on any single source of marketing. I now focus on building a successful brand using a variety of strategies, and most importantly, continuing to produce a strong product with top notch customer service.

Ideal experience for a customer/client?

I guess every business owner will say that customer satisfaction is the most important thing for them, but in our case, it really is. We have an extremely high level of customer satisfaction. We achieve this by:

a.)    Only accepting orders for which are confident that we can deliver great results (we will not accept poor quality photos for example)

b.)    We allow the customer to ask for unlimited number of modifications to his/her painting. If he/she is still not happy, we assign the work to a different artist

c.)    We have a 100% money-back guarantee no-questions-asked policy, and we stand behind it.

d.)    We have m any customer service agents, so no customer must wait for his call/chat/email to be answered.
