Tasha Bleu: Photographer & Founder, TREU BLEU MEDIA®

My NativeAdVantage:

Bio:

Tasha Bleu is a photographer, a founder and a leader. She founded TREU BLEU MEDIA® in January 2010 and the agency's name comes from "being true" to her imagination. Tasha Bleu's digital photography style focuses on clarity, composition, and color. TREU BLEU MEDIA® offers Lifestyle Photography, Lookbook Photography, Product Photography, Social Media Photography, Streetstyle Photography and Motion Graphics Videography. Tasha Bleu is a contributor at COMPLEX, HIGH SNOBIETY, HYPEBEAST, MISSBISH, SIZE 尺码 MAGAZINE, THE HUNDREDS and THE STASHED. Tasha Bleu's super clients are ADIDAS, DIADORA, KSWISS, NIKE, PUMA, REEBOK and TIMBERLAND. Tasha Bleu is currently the Head Photographer at AGENDA TRADESHOW, AGENDA FESTIVAL and COMPLEXCON.

What do I do best?

I am confident that I do a great job at making sure my clients are always satisfied with the commercial images that I create for them. I ensure that my photos are sharp and high resolution so they last for decades. Many of my photography clients print my images for album covers, magazines and billboards so quality is always key. I never compare myself to anyone, so I can't say that I do this better than other people. I can say that I am excellent at over exceeding my own standards. I feel that artists are always put against each other and there's room for everyone to create their own lane.

What makes me the best version of myself?

The most important characteristic that I has gotten me to where I am today is persistence. I am great with following up with all of my clients and no matter what happens in my personal life, I consistently reach my daily goals so I can grow. Owning/operating a business and dealing with corporate clients is not an easy task but I never complain about a life I asked for. Right now I'm answering these interview questions at 7am EST as I board my flight to my next photo shoot and I wouldn't have it any other way!

What are my aspirations?

As a human being, I aspire to be an asset to my family and friends. I'm working toward building generational wealth for my family through my body of work. I also plan on doing more charity work in my hometown and sponsoring a highway in my home state. Being able to give back to my community is important to me.

As a photographer, I aspire to always create work that is "true to my imagination", which is why I trademarked my company's name as Treu Bleu Media. I feel that artists need to know what they stand for, why they started doing what they do and where they want to go in life.

My Biggest Success?

My biggest accomplishment to date has been managing myself. I negotiate all of my own deals and I produce all of my own projects. I do everything I do without an agent. I have a very small team but I often close my own deals when it comes to dealing with my corporate clients. I never let anyone intimidate me and I'm very firm when it comes to making executive decisions. I teach one-on-one classes online where I help other photographers become better at business as well. My definition of success is when you can seal your own deals and protect your company.

My Most Challenging Moment?

My most challenging moment was when I had a Kickstarter project that wasn't successfully funded. I was upset for a long time but I did not let it get the best of me. I made some long lasting connections from the experience and I kept on creating. The decision to continue with my photography had a meaningful impact on my career and I'm happy I saw the brighter side of things.

My Motto?

One scripture I tend to live life by is Ecclesiastes 9:10: Whatever your hands find to do, do it with all your might.

This scripture reminds me that I should always execute every assignment at my highest level of excellence and use my hands to my best ability.

My Favorite People/Role Models?

My favorite two people are my parents. They've inspired me in life as a woman and as an artist.

As an artist, my role model is Sade. I love how you don't see her often but when you do, her presence is always appreciated.

My Favorite Places/Destinations?

Out of everywhere I've ever traveled to, I always enjoy my time in Miami. There's such a sense of freedom there. It's not as overpopulated as where I live in Los Angeles or where I work in New York City.

My Favorite Products/Objects?

My favorite product is Beats By Dre headphones. I always need to listen to music as I'm editing photos. I also have to stay on top of new music as I do research on rappers and musicians I photograph.

My Current Passions?

My current passion is underwater photography. I have been practicing mastering lighting underwater and 2018 will be a great year for me artistically.

Stay tuned.
