Amanda Smith: owner & creator, Create N Plate

My NativeAdVantage:

Amanda Smith is the owner and creator of Create N Plate, a yoga, lifestyle, and recipe blog based in Pittsburgh, PA. She is a certified Strala Yoga guide, vegan, travel junkie, and dog lover. After getting back from a trip in 2013 Amanda quit her retail job and started Create N Plate. Shortly after that she signed up for a yoga teacher training and went vegan which ultimately lead her down a path of living her truth and pursuing her creative passions full time. Amanda is a firm believer in the power of positivity, kindness, plants, and a consistent meditation practice. You can follow along on Instagram to see daily snippets of her life:

What do I do best?

This might seem boring, but what I think I do best is time management. I can plan and time manage with the best of them and I absolutely thrive off of doing so. My whole day seems so much brighter and more productive whenever I have everything planned out and set up.

What makes me the best version of myself?

My drive to learn and educate myself. I am always questioning things and seeking out answers to things that life presents to me. I love to submerse myself in various topics and learn more about the world.

What are my aspirations?

On a personal level; I aspire to live a life full of love and happiness. A simple and fulfilling life with an amazing community of friends to brunch with each weekend and memories to look back on and smile about.

On a business level; I aspire to work for myself, helping others through food, health, and yoga. To share my experiences and knowledge with others to help them become the best versions of themselves.

My Biggest Success?

I think that my biggest success was completing a Yoga Teacher Training in NYC back in 2013. Coming from a small town and never having been to NYC I had no idea about anything. I never took public transportation, never traveled so far away from home 100% on my own, and never committed to something that would put me so much out of my comfort zone before the training. Not only did I survive, but I thrived on the two month journey. It set me on a path to completely transform my entire life.

My Most Challenging Moment?

My most challenging moment came recently. I was working a job that was not in line with who I am or what I stand for. I was just sticking around for the money. Each day I showed up dreading it. I often described it as “soul sucking” because it drained me like nothing else to sit at that desk all day long. I had an exceptionally difficult day there recently and put my notice in the next day. I quit on an impulse and was stuck with a combination of fear, excitement, and uncertainty. I am now working on Create N Plate full time. Quitting the comfort of a stable paycheck is definitely something that challenged me. Asking myself why I was there each day and then one day realizing that I didn’t actually have to be was a game changer. Taking the action and going against everything that everyone tells you to do to go out pursue your passions, that’s tough. But it’s propelled me towards things that have lit up my life like no other.

My Motto?

My mantras change depending on the various seasons of life that I go through. Lately I have been using, “I will transform. I will receive,” as a way to keep myself grounded in where I’m at but to continue to work towards where I am going.

My Favorite People/Role Models?

My boyfriend, Darrin. Roxy, my German Shepherd; obviously not a person but sometimes she acts like a person so that counts. Tara Stiles. Lady Gaga. Jordan Younger. Gabby Bernstein. Nicole Antionette. Meghan Currie.

My Favorite Places/Destinations?

My favorite places to travel are in the mountains. I absolutely adore the Adirondacks and Shenandoah National Park. So much beauty and adventure!

My Favorite Products/Objects?

My yoga mat and yoga wheel, Vitamix, Canon T5i, thick cozy socks, and my bike.

My Current Passions?

Yoga, baking, reading Harry Potter, photography, looking at the stars, working for myself, finding the best vegan ice cream.
