Abbey Sharp: Media/Culinary Dietitian (#RD), Freelance Food/ Nutrition Writer, Blogger & YouTuber

My NativeAdVantage:

Abbey Sharp is a Media and Culinary Registered Dietitian (RD), blogger at and Kin Community (Corus) YouTuber. Abbey is the leading trusted voice in nutrition and food across North America and has represented top international brands like Electrolux, Panasonic, P&G, Jamieson Vitamins, Sunkist and Kellogg’s. In addition to creating content for her own platforms, Abbey is a regular TV expert for top national lifestyle shows like the Marilyn Denis Show, and is pleased to join the Eating Well contributor community. Abbey looks forward to the release of her first Penguin Random House cookbook in Winter 2018 called Mindful Glow.

What do I do best?

I’m really good at communicating complicated nutrition content in a fun, manageable way for the lay person.

What makes me the best version of myself?

I think just that I’m incredibly hard working and I press forward even when Ive been met with a million challenges. I never give up.

What are my aspirations?

a. Personally, I want to learn how to better enjoy my life without feeling guilty about it not always being perfect.

b. Business wise, I want to learn how to continue to grow as a business without driving myself crazy. I need to let go and deligate more so that I can plan the bigger picture pieces of my work.

My Biggest Success?

Just starting and building Abbey’s Kitchen has been a huge success for me. I built this baby from nothing, just from a silly idea I had in the moment when I quit grad school and I now own a very successful nutrition and food communication business.

My Most Challenging Moment?)

I think deciding to quit school and take on blogging full time was incredibly scary. I had always pictured myself as an academic, and everyone expected me to have a successful career with a PhD. But my heart wasn’t in it.  So when one day, out of the blue, I decided to drop out of my full-scholarship grad program and take on blogging full time because I was miserable, I really had to jump. But I cannot describe how much happier I am now. It was the best decision I ever made.

My Motto?

My dad told me, “Abbey if you put yourself up on a pedestal you’ll have no where left to grow.” I remind myself that when I feel like I “failed” at something, but really, I was just being human.

My Favorite People/Role Models?

I love Madonna because she has a ton of haters and trolls, but she just keeps on being herself and singing her own tune.

My Favorite Places/Destinations?

I love Europe- specifically Spain and Italy. I love the walkable culture, and the food is absolutely amazing.  I also think Europeans know how to live. They work to live, and live to eat, not the other way around.

My Favorite Products/Objects?

In my kitchen, I couldn’t live without my spiralizer. I also am obsessed with my BBQ and literally grill everything. In my office, I love my file folders. Ha, I’m an organizational freak, so I am obsessed with putting things away into storage in an organized filed way.

My Current Passions?

Cooking may be my job, but it’s also my passion. I also love fitness. I am one of those crazy people who love working out – I actually enjoy it! And it doesn’t have to be strenuous. Going for walks with my husband is one of my favourite things ever.
