Pascale Yensen: Soul Cycle Instructor

My NativeAdVantage:

Pascale is a proud Canadian who is over the moon to be bringing SOUL back to her home and native land. She is a trained dancer in modern and ballet and has been skiing since before she could walk. She played a plethora of sports as a kid and her love of music runs deep. It’s hard to keep up with her energy thanks to her love of improv comedy.

What do you do best?

I'm good with people and am pretty great at making someone laugh. I love comedy and I love putting a smile on someone's face, even if I don't know them. I like to think I have a very open and inviting energy.

What makes you the best?

I see riders individually, not as a class - I see each one and I care. I want to be the best and I want to be better. I want to feel accomplished. More than anything, I want to feel hard work paying off. That's why I'm the best.

What are your aspirations?

My aspirations change every day. In my personal life, I want to get to a place where I can have a dog. I am in love with them and I want so badly to have one of my own, I just don't have time right now.

Professionally, I want to leave a mark. I want to put in the work to get me to the top. I want to be financially stable so that I can do what I love. Even better, I want to do what I love for a living and I think I'm off to a pretty great start.

Biggest Success?

I've dreamt of living in New York City ever since I can remember. It was a dream of mine when the plan was to become a modern dancer, but those plans changed due to an injury. The dream of NYC still stood -  last year, I applied, worked my butt off and auditioned for SoulCycle which brought me to New York. No matter what happens, I know that I made that happen. I did that and I sure will plan to do it again.

Most Challenging Moment?

I suffer from depression and anxiety. It's been a part of my life since I was 16 years old. There have been many moments when it seemed impossible to get out of bed and get my life back. I have felt fear that this disease would engulf my life and I would be trapped, waiting to be happy forever. After dance school when I had trained for 14 years to hopefully dance professionally, I had to stop. That hit me like a train. But I got up, I'm here and now doing something that I love. With the help of amazing people, I got up and kept going.

This too shall pass. Nothing is permanent.

Favorite People/Role Models?

One of my best friends in the world, Caitlin Arbour. Life has thrown everything you can imagine at her and she keeps going. She keeps going without a grudge on her shoulder. I know a lot of people who would let life tear them down, but not Katie. She is happy and sees the good in people no matter what. She has unbelievable strength and that is something I greatly admire.

Favorite Places/Destinations?

I would love to go to Iceland and to so many places in South America. I love Berlin and Amsterdam. Of course, New York.

Favorite Products/Objects?

I have a Minelli bike that I love. It gets me everywhere. I lived in Ethiopia for a bit and down there, a bike is everything. I see my bike as the freedom to go anywhere.

Current Passions?

I LOVE cooking. Making food for people makes me happy. It may sound strange, but I have been a server for over 10 years and I really enjoy it. Meeting new people and bringing them food and drinks. What more do you want?

I've loved stand up comedy for a while and have now dabbled in improv and sketch comedy. It's definitely something I would like to pursue. I'm working on a sketch comedy/comedic dance show for the Toronto Fringe Festival and I love it!

I'm also ridiculously obsessed with dogs, as I mentioned.
