Jill Miller: Best-Selling Author & co-founder of Tune Up Fitness Worldwide & creator of Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method

My NativeAdVantage:

Bio:

Jill Miller is the co-founder of Tune Up Fitness Worldwide, creator of the corrective exercise formats Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method. With more than 29 years of study in anatomy and movement, she is a pioneer in forging relevant links between the worlds of fitness, yoga, massage, athletics and pain management. She is known as the Teacher’s Teacher and has trained thousands of movement educators, clinicians, and manual therapists to incorporate her Therapy Ball products into fitness and medical facility programs internationally including 24 Hour Fitness, YogaWorks, Equinox, Cedars Sinai and more. She and her team of 400+ trainers consult with professional sports teams globally on performance enhancement and recovery.

She has presented case studies at the Fascia Research Congress and International Association of Yoga Therapy conferences. She has the rare ability to translate complex physiological and biomechanical information into accessible, relevant moves that help her students to transform pain, dysfunction and injury into robust fitness. Jill has been featured in Shape, Men’s Journal, Good Housekeeping, Women’s Health, Yoga Journal, Chatelaine and Self, and on the Today Show and Good Morning America. Jill is regularly featured on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She is the creator of dozens of DVD’s including Treat While You Train with Kelly Starrett and the author of the internationally bestselling book The Roll Model: A Step by Step Guide to Erase Pain, Improve Mobility and Live Better in your Body.

What do you do best?

My best skill is helping people to find their own body blind spots, areas of their body that are overused, underused, or confused. I have a knack for helping people create better internal maps of themselves through awakening proprioception (body sense) and interception (physiological listening.)

What makes you the best?

1) I am a student of my body.

2) I am a student of what I teach.

3) I study my students.

What are your aspirations?

I teach self-care healthcare to students from all walks of life. One of the primary tools I use are my Roll Model® Therapy Balls, these include Yoga Tune Up® Balls, Therapy Ball Plus, Alpha Ball and Coregeous®. They are grippy, pliable, portable balls that give you the power to address your own needs and reduces the body’s dependency on medicine or other people to “fix” your issues. Every household should have a medicine cabinet filled with “rubber drugs” to alleviate aches, pains and prevent issues rather than a medicine cabinet filled to the brim with prescription drugs.

Biggest Success?

My daughter.

Most Challenging Moment?

I thought I would complete my book, The Roll Model before my daughter was born. I signed my book contract the same week I found out I was pregnant. Her labor was a breeze compared to birthing a 432 page book. I finished writing the book during the first 6 months of her life. This meant nursing her at my standing desk while writing, editing and polishing!

Favorite Motto?

How you do your body most is how your body does.

Favorite People?

My husband, daughter, and the Yoga Tune Up® Teacher family.

Favorite Places?

Kona. My bed. My personal training studio on top of Roll Model Balls.

Favorite Products?

NibMor dark Chocolate

Way Good Tea

Manduka Mats

Current Passions?

Studying the vagus nerve.

Reading about childhood movement development.

Playing, singing and dancing with my daughter.

Private singing lessons.

Mentoring my teaching team.
