Kristin McGee: Celebrity Yogi & Pilates Teacher & Author

My NativeAdVantage:

Bio:

Kristin McGee, a nationally recognized celebrity yoga and Pilates teacher, speaker, mompreneur, and author of Chair Yoga: Sit, Stretch, and Strengthen Your Way to a Happier, Healthier You (HarperCollins January 17, 2017) has been at the forefront of the yoga industry since she began teaching yoga in the 90’s. Her exceptional yoga and Pilates teaching abilities and unparalleled knowledge of fitness and health (she is a certified Pilates teacher, ACE certified personal trainer and an AFAA certified aerobics instructor) has established her as a sought after trainer with a continuous roster of high profile celebrities including LeAnn Rimes Cibriann, Emilia Clarke, Tina Fey, Bethenny Frankel, Savannah Guthrie, Steve Martin, and Christine Taylor Stiller. She’s appeared on national television shows such as Access Hollywood, CNN, Fox, Good Morning America, The Early Show, and the Today Show and has been featured in magazines including Fitness, Glamour, Health, InStyle, People, Prevention, Shape, Vogue, and Women’s Health. Named one of the top 100 most influential yoga teachers in the U.S. by SONIMA in 2016, Kristin is a contributing editor at Health Magazine, a spokesperson for Power Pilates Gym on HSN, and a brand ambassador for multiple brands.

What do you do best?

I’m very empathetic and I love to listen to people and feel them on their level. I think I’m a great yoga teacher because I love it so much and have been practicing and teaching since the 90’s. I’m also a pretty awesome mom!

What makes you the best?

I stay in the moment as much as possible and give it my all whenever I’m doing anything. I’m also a perfectionist so I think it rubs off on everything I do.

What are your aspirations?

I want to raise amazing, empathetic, passionate children. I want to continue to teach until I’m 100 years old! I would love to have my own yoga channel or tv show someday too.

Biggest Success?

I think hosting, choreographing and starring in the first MTV yoga series was pretty cool. I also loved being on the cover of Health. Having my baby boy Timothy was a huge success for me and now I have twin boys on the way! I just finished my first book with Harper Collins coming out in January so I think that’s a huge success too.

Most Challenging Moment?

I’ve had various challenging moments throughout my life. At one point in my teens and again in my 20’s I struggled with anorexia. I had a hard time getting pregnant when I first started trying. I’ve also been working and living in NYC for 22 years now and as much as I love this city it’s always presenting challenges which makes it fun and keeps me growing.

Motto?

I often say “everything you could possibly ever want, have, or need, is right here inside of you.”

Favorite People/Role Models?

My mom is really incredible and such a role model to me. I am also enamored by Steve Martin and all he does, he truly is a “jack of all trades” and has so many talents and interests and on top of it all he’s really down to earth and incredibly kind. I love Ayn Rand and her books.

Favorite Places/Destinations?

I love Sun Valley Idaho and all of Idaho (I grew up there it’s heaven on earth). I love the Amalfi coast and Positano…anywhere in Italy is incredible.

Favorite Products/Objects?

I love aura cacia essential oils, Hatch maternity yoga tanks, toe sox leg warmers, manduka yoga mats and gear, traditional medicinals teas, ubr water and nuttzo nut butters.

Current Passions?

Being a mom, writing, pregnancy, cooking, yoga always, Pilates always, theater, music, dance and friends and family.
