My NativeAdVantage:

I’ve always found it hard to describe myself, but I guess the easiest way is: I’m a curious creative 28 year old located in Brisbane, Australia. Ever since I was young I’ve been interested in sciences, history, breaking things, putting them back together; making things.

I’ve spent most of my career in retail, & more recently have moved into purchasing & logistics. However it is outside of my 9-5 that I let my creative side out. I enjoy creating things, and with the way the world is these days, if you want to learn how to do something, the answer is out there; sometimes I like to think I am enrolled in the University of Google.

In my spare time I am an avid painter, even integrating my love of electronics etc. I’ve studied Biology & Genetics, but what interests me most is how new ideas and stories change through history, and how they are initially received by and then propagate through a society. I love finding the origins of ideas & stories throughout history. In my pursuit of this love recently I have been delving into the world of ancient manuscripts, the original versions of stories, when I stumbled across the story of “Alice’s Adventures Under Ground,” the original hand written and illustrated manuscript of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, “Alice in Wonderland.”

How could you not fall in love with a manuscript like this; the tiny hand writing, the familiar yet strangely different illustrations? I wanted a copy!

But that’s when I discovered that although the story is available for sale elsewhere in the world, they don’t look like the real book. They have new cover designs or introductions added to the front of the book written by some expert. I didn’t want this. I wanted a book that looked, and felt like the real book and didn’t have anything extra.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mind thanks to my father, and with the business experience I have gained over the years in sales, retail, logistics, purchasing etc. it is now time I take the next step.

Cobblestone Productions Pty. Ltd. was born. In collaboration with my partner Angela, we have started a small company whose goal will be to bring old books back to life. Created to look as close to the originals as possible. It will be our goal to bring back other classics from the depths and darkness of Libraries from around the worlds back rooms. But of course, that takes time, and we both work full time, so we needed a project to get us off the ground, so I present to you our Kickstarter campaign, 150th Anniversary Edition of Alice’s Adventures Under Ground, our first publication as Cobblestone Productions Pty. Ltd.

And hopefully just the beginning.

What do you do best?

Make things happen. I think this is something that a lot of people underestimate the value of. It is fantastic to have an idea, event or have a product in mind, but it is taking the next steps that make a difference. What I do best is connect the dots to make a clear picture of what needs to be done for a given goal; adapt – and then make it happen!

What makes you the best?

Constantly learning! Realizing I don’t know everything and learning from the people that know more than me.

Always trying to improve.

How will you stay the best?

Continue learning, taking feedback and adapting.

Biggest success?

This Kickstarter Campaign. We put 1 and a half years into preparing this book and getting the artwork perfect, all in secret. We couldn’t tell the world about this until the library signed off on what we had created.

When we finally showed the world, and received the response we did so quickly, we were…..just amazed. I hope we reach our stretch target and we can throw the Rockin’ Tea Party in the Park for the launch of the book!

What are your aspirations?

I hope that we can continue this as our full time career; we want to create unique books. In a world where printed text is dying; we want to remind the world that printed text can be beautiful. We want to find those forgotten texts in libraries and bring them back to the public eye. We want to find the origins of famous stories, and let the world see the first time they were written down. For too long these texts have been reserved for academics, or only available in digital form.

Most challenging moment?

Right now, launching this Kickstarter has been one of the most challenging projects I have ever done.

But we are here now, and the book is going ahead thanks to our backers on Kickstarter. Now I’m sure after the campaign is finished, my most challenging moment may change. :)

What fascinates you?

Origin stories, how things came to be, science, physics, what a time we live in.

Favorite Motto:

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got.

Favorite People:

Nikola Tesla, Stephen Hawking, Chris Hadfield, Richard Branson, Bill Bryceson, Elon Musk,

Favorite Places:

Denver, Colorado would have to be one of my favorite places in the world.

Favorite Products:

My favorite thing would have to be my WiiU, I have grown up with the Zelda series and can’t wait for the next one to come out – Hurry up Nintendo!!

Current Passions:

Starting a life with my new fiancé, we are planning a wedding at the zoo next year! Next to that; travelling. But I think that would be on anybody’s list.
Learning will always be my passion, ancient texts, manuscripts and the history of how things came to be.
