Matthew King: Founder of Mindpipe

My NativeAdVantage:

Matthew grew up in Surrey spending every spare second drawing any thing that popped into his head. Later after many years of artistic work and success he went to study 'Computer Visualization and Animation' at Bournemouth University where his interest in character and design deepened. After making his first pair of 3D computer characters as a gift for a family engagement, which at the couples request stretched into a whole range of wedding stationery products, he knew he had to do more. So by teaming up with his partner Petya Kapralova and after lots of development and testing Mindpipe Wedding and Event Stationery was born. At the beginning of 2015 Mindpipe was awarded Virgin StartUp funding and now Matthew is looking at how to take this unique bespoke design business further. The skies the limit for this design duo.

What’s Your NativeAdVantage:

What do you do best?

Character- Character has always been my love and has always inspired everything I do. With Mindpipe I am able to use my passion for character to help realize our customers personalities within our unique design structure. In a world of homogenization it is easy for the individual to get lost and what I do is actively strive to recognize and understand our customers uniqueness as individuals and as couples.

What makes you the best?

My Skill Set - As an 3D computer animator I am able to approach designing still assets in a very different way from the more traditional processes. This means that not only can my characters very quickly and easily take on numerous identities and poses but they can also be animated. On top of this all the techniques I have honed whilst developing this first stage of the business are infinitely transferable to other products and styles and we can't wait to do more.

How will you become the best?

Bespoke - The focus of the Mindpipe and what makes us special is our understanding of what a bespoke service and product is. It is this commitment to making every item we produce special that will make us the best as we expand. Whether designing for a corporate event or favours for a wedding our ethos is and will always be 'Make it Bespoke and make it special'

What are your aspirations?

Personal: My personal goal is to move closer to the countryside where I can devote more time to growing my business whilst looking at a beautiful green view. Happiness and is defiantly at the top of my aims.

Business: My goal for the business is to develop the it into the place to go for bespoke design services. We want our scope to extend to both individuals and business clients as we become renowned for our focused bespoke approach to all our customers no matter what the product or the sector.

What fascinates you?

People - I find people truly fascinating and love the constant reminder that you should never judge a book by its cover. Every person I meet and every client we work for has an intricate back story and message and they are always is a great deal more to them than you first appear. It is my job and joy to find out what makes a person special.

What are Your Favorite:

Motto: 'I'm not mad, just differently sane'

My partner Petya is genuinely my favourite person. She constantly challenges my preconceptions and pushes me to be and do more. She is my rock as well as sometimes being my adversary and together we get the best out of each other.

Forests - Anywhere where I can find some trees and get lost for a couple of hours is a magical place to me. For running, sketching or pondering forests are the place I am most relaxed.

3D printers genuinely are amazing, there is something truly magical about being able to take something I have sculpted in the virtual space of my computer an making it tangible.

Creativity - This truly is where everything I do is focused and regardless of what I am doing be it designing a board game to designing a collection of stationery for a client I have to use my creativity to the full and love every minute of it.
