Cathy Franklin: Senior Global Real Estate Advisor & Salesperson, The Corcoran Group

With over $3 billion of luxury co-operative, condominium and townhouse sales, Cathy Franklin is a 28-year real estate veteran and one of Manhattan's top brokerage superstars. For 2017, Cathy’s sales exceeded over $220,000,000 and she and her team were the number three team for the corporation. For 2018 to date, Cathy has in excess of $372,000,000 in contract. Cathy was Corcoran’s Manhattan Salesperson of the Year for both 2016 and 2015. She has repeatedly won awards for record transactions throughout Manhattan including Biggest Condo Deal, Biggest Co-op Deal, Biggest Townhouse Deal, and Biggest Rental Deal of Townhouses and Condos as well as consistently being in The Real Deal's Top Brokers and Top Sales. Additionally, she has consistently been recognized by the Wall Street Journal and Real Trends as one of the top one-half of one percent of agents in the United States and they regularly rank her among the top ten brokers in New York City. Cathy is a member of Corcoran’s President’s Council for 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015, and ranks in the top 0.25% of Corcoran’s parent company Realogy’s 47,000 agents nationwide. She was the recipient of the Upper East Side Broker of the Year award for more than ten years at Brown Harris Stevens, her previous employer.

Cathy has repeatedly represented many local and international families in multiple purchases throughout Manhattan. Cathy consistently travels to Hong Kong, China, Japan, Europe, Israel, Bahrain, Qatar and Dubai to meet with these clients to expand their real estate portfolios in the United States. She represents multiple families from Australia and India in their real estate acquisitions as well. In addition, Cathy has brokered multiple transactions in new developments throughout Manhattan. A consummate professional, Cathy is respected for her unparalleled integrity and discretion. Few in the business can match her impressive record, reputation and encyclopedic knowledge of Manhattan's residences. Her business acumen and discretion have made her a favorite among the global leaders in finance, politics, entertainment, and technology. She is a sought-after industry expert and has been featured in The New York Times (both Homes Magazine and newspaper), Wall Street Journal, Forbes, The New York Post, Architectural Digest, Gotham, Hamptons and Avenue Magazines as well as on CBS and NBC.

Cathy lives in a historical landmark 1886 townhouse on the Upper Eastside with her husband, Jeffrey Baker, sons Otto and Alex (both attended Trinity, Hotchkiss and Harvard) and William (who attended Trinity, Poly Prep, and Wharton School of Business), and two Australian Shepherds (Storm and Shadow). Both of their homes - their townhouse and their 1806 Georgian farm in the Hudson Valley - have been featured prominently in Forbes, Food and Wine, Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. The farm is also home of Hillrock Estate Distillery, producer of award winning field-to-glass artisanal whiskey. Cathy is a graduate of Wellesley College, a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and New York Landmarks Conservancy.

What do you love most about Your City?

I love the iconic New York skyline at dusk and our lush 840 acre Central Park.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

My favorite breakfast is a toasted sesame seed bagel with butter and my favorite restaurant is Stissing House in Pine Plains, New York.

(30 Park Place, Apt PH82)

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM - I start my day with a skim latte in the garden at my townhouse (weather permitting) with my husband, Jeffrey Baker, and our two Australian Shepherds, Storm and Shadow. I read the numerous emails that have come in overnight, The New York Times, The New York Post and The Wall Street Journal (I still love reading newspapers). Then, I start my calls to my overseas clients.

8:00 AM - I will be working out with Tommy, my trainer, at Equinox 85th Street. He is amazing!

10:00 AM - I am well into showing apartments and townhouses throughout Manhattan.

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch or Spot/meal?

If I have the time, I enjoy lunch at The Mark. My favorite meal is the chilled artichoke followed by the salmon with ginger dressing. Most days I don’t have time for a sit down lunch. Usually my colleagues and fabulous team members Alexis Bodenheimer, Marion Smith and Sadie Rutman, grab soup and kale chips from the Juice Press.

7:00 PM - My team and I are hopefully wrapping up the day; following up with our clients via emails and telephone calls, giving them updates on their properties or searches.

11:00 PM - I’ll be catching up on my favorite shows which I’ve recorded. Currently, Sharp Objects and Ozark. It’s a nice way to gear down and relax after a very busy day.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

My team and I are hydrating all day long, drinking lots of water and herbal ice tea. At the end of the day, if I’m home with my husband – and if I’m really lucky and have one or more of my three sons, Otto, Alex, and William, with us, I sip on one of my two current favorite drinks, Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon on ice or Hillrock Port-Finished Double Cask Rye on ice. My husband and I created Hillrock Estate Distillery, which is located in New York’s Hudson Valley, so we always have a wonderful selection of Hillrock spirits to choose from for every occasion.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

I love Instagram and Facebook, it is so much fun to reconnect with long lost friends and always keep up with family and friends. Of course, my favorite account is @hillrockestatedistillery

What should everyone try at least once?

You must try Rotisserie Georgette’s Poule de Luxe and Chef Eliza Glaister’s Sticky Toffee Pudding topped with Hillrock Solera Bourbon.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

I love getting lost in the Stag’s Leap Winery in Napa, California – especially in the caves.
