Jordyn Palos: Founder, Persona PR

Named one of “Hollywood’s New Leaders” by Variety in 2015, Jordyn Palos, founder of Persona PR, launched the company in 2010 and has established Persona as one of the most dedicated and hands-on independent PR firms in the entertainment industry today. With offices in Los Angeles and New York City, Persona has grown from a dozen clients that followed Jordyn when she left her previous PR job, to over 100 clients in the talent, music, branded lifestyle, non-profit, and corporate space. Persona PR’s client list includes a select group of award-winning actors from film and television, New York Times bestselling authors, various experts in the beauty and lifestyle space, comedians, production companies, and a handful of musicians. Born and raised in Southern California, Jordyn obtained her bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television, and Film with an emphasis in Electronic Media Management from California State University Northridge. Her educational experience has provided a background vital to navigating the PR world and ever-changing digital arena: electronic media systems, media management, media message design, audience analysis, mass communication research, international broadcasting, new media, and more. During her senior year of college (2006) Jordyn took an internship with a LA-based entertainment public relations firm and worked for that company for four years before launching Persona PR out of her apartment.

Before finding her true calling as a publicist and business owner, Jordyn worked as a Marketing Associate for Ashley Furniture, and in the music industry as a stylist (working with Tyga, Paramore, and Panic! at the Disco, to name a few). While her business and clients are two of her greatest passions, Jordyn is also a wife and mom, and loves to spend time with her family. She is also a supporter of the American Diabetes Association (as several people in her life are Type 1 diabetics) and the Bumble Bee Foundation, a local organization that provides relief to families who have children suffering from cancer.

What do you love most about Your City?

Persona PR’s headquarters are in Hollywood (we also have offices in New York City) and I live about 45 minutes outside of LA, so I feel like I have the best of all worlds.  What I love about Hollywood, specifically where our offices are, the area is bustling with amazing restaurants and companies like Netflix and Viacom, so it feels like you are at the epicenter of this amazing, creative space.  I also love the incredible mix of cultures and people.  The town I live in is tiny, literally one main road with a little downtown area and a local brewery- having the quiet, slow life to come home to and a nice neighborhood to raise my son in has been good for my soul.  I also love having a home base in New York City- traveling to work alongside my team there always puts a smile on my face. There is no place on earth like NYC, it is truly special.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I rarely eat breakfast, sometimes I will have eggs (if I have time) but oftentimes it’s a black coffee and protein bar.  The Waffle is in our building in LA, so I will have breakfast there for meetings, on occasion.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – I typically get up around 6:45 AM, I get my son ready for school, usually work out for 45 minutes – 1 hour, and then get ready to start my day.  The first thing I do while I am still in bed is scroll through my emails (since my NYC office has been working around 2-3 hours by the time I get up) and make sure there isn’t anything urgent that needs to be addressed.

10:00 AM – depending on the day I could be in a meeting by 10 AM, covering a photo shoot, sitting in traffic, every day is different which is one of the reasons I love my job.

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

I eat lunch several times a week at a restaurant called PALEY. in Hollywood, which is about two blocks down from our offices.  I usually will get their salmon dish, and I always order the tater tots for the table. I am not one of those people who shy away from carbs.  Give me all the bread and tater tots!

7:00 PM - Most days I am still working at 7 PM, we oftentimes have film premieres/screenings in the evenings so I might be on a red carpet around 7 PM, if I am lucky though I am at home putting my son in the bath and getting him ready for bed.

11:00 PM – I am usually still not in bed at 11:00 PM, I might be powering through emails depending on the day… or my husband and I will catch up on some of our favorite television series. I try to stay up on all my client’s shows, so you might find me binging a series on Netflix or watching screeners.  I am trying to get better about going to bed earlier, I am typically not asleep though until around 1:00 AM.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

Coffee.  I drink a LOT of coffee.  I might be rotting from the inside, not sure.  I drink it black, however I have been ordering the cold foam cold brew from Starbucks, lately.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

My personal IG account is private so I mostly just follow friends, family, and clients (I love keeping up on all they have going on), and I am checking the Persona PR account throughout the day as the team adds content (@personapr) – favorite apps, if you really did a deep dive into my phone it would probably be: WAZE, IMDB, VENMO, MYFITNESSPAL, ZILLOW, AIRBNB (I have a running wish list of places to go to), lol I am pretty boring.

What should everyone try at least once?

This is a tough question. I don’t want to sound too cliché, but I would say try something you would never think you would do.  Surprise yourself. I am not the most outdoorsy, adventurous person but when I travel with my husband he always encourages me to do something I would NEVER do.  For example, zip lining in Costa Rica, or kayaking in the bioluminescent bay in Puerto Rico… things like that are experiences you will have forever & if you have the opportunity you have to try it! I am always a little nervous, but I am happy I conquered it after the fact.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

Something I have loved throughout my life, is getting lost in new cities and exploring their history and culture.  “Getting lost” can mean so many things to different people, but for me, I have had the great pleasure of getting lost in some of the most incredible cities throughout the world, and it is always an adventure.  With a toddler I haven’t had the chance to do that in the last 3-4 years, but I can feel the itch and can’t wait to get back out there and explore some more.
