Ed Mayuga: Co-Founder, AMM Communications

Founded in 2008 by Ed Mayuga, and his wife and business partner, Ann Marie Mayuga, AMM Communications provides public relations, content marketing, sales training, media relations, crisis communication, strategic communication, communications skills training and talent acquisition for professional service, financial service, healthcare and technology mid-sized businesses, not-for-profits, and government entities nationally and internationally.

One of the areas where Ed serves his clients best is with talent acquisition and recruitment. For more than 10 years, Ed has placed CEOs, CFO, CMO and senior-level talent with businesses nationwide in a variety of industries. He has a 100 percent placement rate using his proprietary method and his placements are guaranteed. AMM Communications has been voted by the readers of Small Business Monthly as one of the “Top PR Firm in St. Louis” for eight consecutive years from 2010-2018, and is a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) certified by the State of Missouri since 2011, and certified a WBE and a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the City of St. Louis, and County of St. Louis since 2018.

What do you love most about Your City?

I love the spirit of volunteerism that I witness around the St. Louis. The residents are always willing to step in and donate their time (and money) to civic events, such as Fair Saint Louis.

Favorite breakfast meal & restaurant?

I love breakfast at IKEA exactly at 9:30 AM (when it opens) – The $1 small breakfast, a side of Swedish meatballs, a cinnamon roll, and a cup of coffee – for exactly $4.37. I’m usually the first in line, so it only takes me 5 minutes to receive my meal, and I always have exact change.

What are you doing at:

6:00 AM – I just finished walking the dogs after waking up at 5:00 AM. I usually start my Pomodoro 25-minute timer then start journaling (I practice the Morning Pages routine)

10:00 AM – I take a break by walking around our yard. We live on two acres. This is to get my daily steps in. It also helps to exercise the dogs.

12:00 PM - Favorite Power Lunch spot/meal?

Guerilla Street Food of the Delmar Loop. Filipino food is fantastic!

7:00 PM - Sitting down to dinner. In the Summer, we usually fire up the grill and cook outside to keep the heat out of the house. In the Winter, I use the Instant Pot in the colder months.

11:00 PM – I try to be in bed by 10:30 PM, but if I’m awake this late, I’m usually reading a book.

What drink do you need to get through the day and at the end (and how many)?

I love a Rye Manhattan on the rocks with a Luxardo cherry. Two is my maximum, and only when I’m not driving.

Most used App/Favorite Instagram Account?

My most used app is Allo for group text. I have a large group of friends that have been keeping our group chat daily for over 2 years.

What should everyone try at least once?

Starting a business! It’s a great way to learn about your strengths, grit and perseverance.

Where do you enjoy getting lost?

I enjoy getting lost in the aisles of Costco. They are famous for their “Treasure Hunt” so I like to find the products that are unadvertised.
